This 80 year old quilt my grandmother made is falling apart, what could be done to save it?

she made it out of old shirts from my dad and his brothers, i remember her pointing to material and telling me whose shirt it had been. Some material is still fine while other is disintegrating. Should it just be given a decent burial since it served it's purpose?
