What is the deal with bf/gf among teenagers?

I am a 13 year old almost 14. And like, the girls at my school are obsessed with going out with boys. I mean I think everyone is too young to worry about stuff like that. I know I sound like an old fart haha. Well, whenever they are "going out" they say "I LOVE YOU" and stupid stuff like that. I mean and when the boys dump them they cry boo-hoo. I mean don't get me wrong its okay to like boys and stuff because I mean thats what girls do. But my question is, is it REALLY going out at my age or am I just imagining things.
