When and why did the aerospace industry relocate out of Southern CA?

Cal raised taxes, both individual and corporate, plus the rising cost of living (which forced many employees to relocate). McDonald Douglas was bought out by Northrop-Grumman. They are now located in the Midwest and Texas. Boeing has also moved some of their operations from the "Left Coast" as well.
