History- 17th Century England?

The King wouldn't move with the times. He insisted that he had the 'Divine Right' to rule. Others took a different view and wanted to choose their Monarch from a bunch of contestants judged by dancing. Wait, I'm getting confused- that could have been another King but I'm pretty sure Len Goodwin was involved.
