How can I tell if my is leaking from a seal or a gasket, leak is near oil plug?

take the inspection plate off the torque converter and see if transmission fluid is in it. if there is then it,s probably the front seal leaking. if it,s leaking that much then that sealer won,t work. it also could be a line too.
