Is Obama pretty much guaranteed a second term?
Just look at the Republican field. I think one Republican strategist correctly described it as the weakest Republican field since Wendell Willkie won the nomination in 1940. (Roosevelt went on to beat Willkie with 80+% of the electoral votes) It's not even that Obama is that popular, it's just that almost all of the Republican field is unelectable outside of hard-right conservative circles and the ones that aren't will be marginalized into obscurity by the loudmouth rhetoric of the Tea Parties. As things are shaping up Obama will not only win but, he will win by a landslide and he can thank Republicans for handing it to him on a golden platter.
